sorry to drift off topic, but on several occasions we came up with compromises that enabled the bank to not off load staff by the bucketful and defer pay rises if any. most people thought the bank had come up with it, but 9/10 we had, their negotiators never seemed that creative

No mate, in fact I am quite appalled by their intransigence.my OH who come from a staunch Labour family, is equally annoyed by the attitude of several unions at present.
My view always was that work is a partnership, if we price ourselves out of the market, we are stupid and the company had to remember that without us they would not get the business done. a fair days pay for a fair days work.
From what I've seen most just havent had press/media training for the sort of questions they're going to be asked, or dont have the answers to all questions ready to go and pre rehearsed. Also, they're trying to put across about 15 different viewpoints into something that they themselves understand
Shirley, the unions are being Bolshie (sic) at the moment because they are looking to hasten the downfall of the iniquitous and corrupt Capitalist system and they are trying to seize on the collapse of the banking and financial system as a way to grab the levers that control the means of production?
The more trouble that they can stir up for the hated system and 'the Bosses' at the moment, the better.
It just so happens that the leaders of today are mere intellectual pygmies compared to the mighty Union Barons of the sixties and early seventies.
