Hi,

Basically I'm going on holiday with a few of the lads and we're staying in the biggest sthole I've ever seen in my life. It's a "hotel" but I use the term very loosely. There are no safes in the room. For a couple of reasons I am taking all my money in cash. Getting a some traveller's cheques is not an option, and neither is a pre-paid card as I am leaving on Sunday.

So basically, does anyone have any decent ideas for hiding cash in the room?

Thanks

Chilli

You may have to buy a camp / gross looking security belt / girdle thing. I guess you don't want to take a card and use that. The FX rate difference is tiny nowadays

Tape it to the underside of some furniture.

Oo yes lots of good plans.

Like the socks idea but maybe a bit cliche? I think tape it under the furniture is a good one. Not sure about the waterproof bag.

PS it's about 800 pounds worth so carrying in pocket is not an option.

seems strange you are not taking either travellers cheques or using a card to withdraw when needed.

Why not, can you explain why you need to carry all your money on you at all times?

So why not use credit cards or debit cards and just take it out when needed rather than take it all and hide it?

Hiding it in the room and leaving the room would mean I would always be thinking about the cash and would be worried.... why not just get £50 notes and then you have only 16 to keep on your person?

Assuming there are some drawers take out the bottom one. Place the money in the gap towards the front and put the drawer back in.

If your only taking £800 worth, why not get some Bic biros, cut the inner ink cartridge down, then roll a high denomination note up in each pen? Then just change one high denomination note at a time?
That is a great shout!

yes I was thinking that. If you've got that much cash, why are you staying in such a dodgy hotel?

Put cash in a condom then insert up the bottom?

It's not pleasant but the only people who will look there are the local police and Customs and Excise on your way back...
