In my emails, I sign off my business emails with:

Regards

Paul

I have been told I should add something like "thanks and best regards"

Am I too abrupt? I have to send a lot of emails so have "Regards Paul" as part of my signature so I do not have to type it each time. Am I being abrupt? or should I flower it up a bit?

I reckon that's fine - not impolite or abrupt at all.

Regards,

The Moose.

Don't see the problem if it's for business correspondence... it's not as if you're writing to Aunty Betty.

I either sign off with Regards, Kind regards or Cheers (depending on how well I know who i'm emailing)

I tend to sign off either kind regards or cheers or best wishes, depends who they are to. Personally I think the example you have been given is ott.

I sign all my business emails the same way (with my name of course wink ) and I have not had any complaints and infact most people I work with have just put it in their email signature to save time writing it out themselves.

Seriously though. If it's buisiness, it should be kept as something like 'regards' rather than a personal message, depending on the customer I suppose. But something short and formal IMO sounds more professional.

Email is much less formal than normal mail; it would be odd to sign off with "Yours sincerely". I use exactly the same, though I vary it a bit if 'Thanks' is appropriate.

Who told you this?

Regards

Paul

Start signing them with "fk off" and see what happens.

I sign mine off the same way that you do, nothing wrong with it at all IMO

I sign off in much the same fashion as 'regards...<name>, The latter example in the OP just sounds crawly to me.

It's not polite to use the expression "im" when it should be "I'm" or even "I am".
