I wouldn't get too excited, I've got three on me of the new design, but they are all dated.

This is very old, these un dated 20p's were being sold on ebay back in Jan/Feb for around £80-£100

A private company is offering to buy them. You have to register before you send them in.

Why would they pay us for these?

Perhaps the manager who is responsible for and suggested this has the 10,001st 20p coin and after melting it the other 10,000 down, he will have the only one in existence.

I remember the 'new' ones coming out and I aint forty! There was certainly no mistaking the old and new coins so to say that the design hasn't changed in 40 years isn't really true IMO. A case of a youngster doing their research on Wikipedia methinks
