Has anyone got one of the duffers without the date stamped on it ? The mother in laws friend got one, she was going to hand it into the bank for her 50 quid "reward". MIL phoned her after we spoke, and she is going to keep it a while.

They are all over Ebay at the mo, silly prices being asked. I don't suppose they'll be worth a ton of money but the more folk who hand them back, the rarer the kept ones will become.

How many of these are going to turn out to have had an unfortunate encounter with a dremel and a buffing tool? The date is raised on a 20p, and that has got to make it too easy to fake one of these.

None, the problem is they used the old style non-dated 'head' with the new style non-dated 'tail'. So if you have a dated new coin you can't just grind the date off because the head design is quite different.
