After mulling it over for a while i'm now the proud owner of a Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon S 12-Gauge Shotgun. biggrin

I took the plunge after renewing my FAC a month ago and since i was at the Scottish Game Fair today decided to treat myself.

Oh and just a quick question, why the hell are Barbour jackets so expensive?

I've got a silver pigeon. lovely gun. Put 100 through it just last night in glorious weather.

It 'twas a toss up between the Beretta and a Browning but the Beretta just had the edge.

I put 30 through it at the Fair just to get used to it and it is simply awesome.

The only problem is i now need to buy a bigger gun cabinet. biggrin

My pigeon is now some 60,000 rounds old and is still a dream to shoot. Haven't fallen for a barbour yet but the deerhunter is starting to look a bit worn.....

How was the game fair?

The Game Fair was excellent (if expensive wink )

I bought a load of stuff so i now look the part (rather than like some grubby street urchin)

Well worth a visit. thumbup

Highlight of the day had to be the Ferret racing. hehe

It's kind of subjective, I don't have "all the kit" but my Laurona does well down at Hawley Gun Club.

Because if you look after them they will last forever. Do bin the small Barbour lapel badge though, we don't shout about these things you know.....

My first piece of advice to someone buying their first gun and cabinet is to buy bigger than you think necessary! I started with 1 air rifle and now have 2 cabinets that barely close!

The downside of such cumbersome storage is that the missus can't be deluded into believing the expenditure level anymore argue

First thing i did was bin the lapel badge.

I got the Berwick Endurance in Dark Olive.

I think i look quite dashing in it all, i am aware that i'll not be able to wear my tweed blazer as that might be overkill.

I'd also need friends called Rupertpaperbag

I have a shortie black Barbour Bedale which is great for hopping in and out of the car, leaving in the boot etc. Costly, but I wil probably get 20 years out of it.

I have two types of Barbour Jacket, A clean Northumbria in the house in a cover, and a 25 year old Border in the garage, that will stand up on it's own. biggrin

Good man! Have my Granddad's Barbour in the garage...it CAN stand up on its own.
Think the MOD need to be buying up old Barbour coats, must be damn near bullet proof.

Also makes one have the 'correct' posture when wearing it...as it don't bloody flex biggrin

I can be found swinging a Lincoln Premier, nothing fancy but a nice usable piece happy with clays, wood pigeon or rough shoots....and that is all anyone can ask from a shotgun, in my opinion wink

Barbours stink a bit though.

I bought a flat cap to wear when traversing green lanes in my Range Rover, you just have to don't you?
