Lad over the road asked if we'd seen his rabbit a few weeks ago, we hadn't at the time. Now the rabbit seems to have taken residence in our garden but is very shy and hops it pronto if you approach it. Is there any way to catch him or has it gone a bit wild?

Prop a box up on its end and stick some carrots and lettuce and stuff down in front, position it so you can maybe see rabbit near if from upstairs window, but get some shielding from the box as you approach from the house! He will eventually get hungry, then leg it out and drop the box over him! Sorted. I have rounded up a whole family of hedgehogs like this, (using dogfood though!) relocated them to a nice local farm!
Once captured, take photo of rabbit with todays newspaper, send ransom note to boy over road. Be ready to send an ear over if kid does not play ball. No coopers of the bunny gets it. etc etc.
Even a tame rabbit can be hard to catch, have you let the lad know, maybe he can try and retrieve it, find out what it's favourite foods are and try and place them somewhere where you may be able to corner it.
I used a washing basket once to catch a rabbit! It was a light plastic one and I literally had to throw it over the rabbit, it worked but I knew I wouldn't hurt it if I missed!

Every time anybody went near it it nipped back through the railings into the derelict grounds on an old hall. Went on for week despite many atempts to catch it.
In the end we employed a secret weapon: a random fox late at night who ate him.

You could do what I did, and drop a garden gate on it's head
Quick trip to the vets, and baby food for a few weeks, and it was right as rain!
I shouldn't but
