Not on FM, only Radio 4 LW which is cracking up all the time and is unlistenable, should they not switch it to Radio 4 on FM. It's the top sporting event of the summer and we can't here it properly unless on a dab radio.

So Mods but believe this is neither sport or cars can it kept in the Lounge.

That is just the start of it! Wait until 2015 when the glubbers are going to potentially turn off all analogue radio. Who the hell wants it turned off anyway? Approx 25 000 000 radios will be nigh on useless and then we have to put up with the latest incarnation of DAB

Cricket on the radio - just how boring can this possibly be !
"Oh X has bowled it towards the stumps, Y has missed it, Z fielder has picked the ball up and thrown it back to X"
Wait 5 mins and repeat for 6 hours sleep

There isn't any decent music on the radio either. All the local stations to me have conspired to play Lady Gaga simultaneously every 3 songs and it is getting rather annoying. I now listen to MP3s all the time and will listen to internet radio if the 3g signal is good enough.

eta, How is not covering some pointless game a national disgrace? There are much worse things...

Have you even actually listened to Cricket on the Radio - The cricket is made all the more interesting by the commentary - The BBC commentators add in useful and interesting trivia and the banter is pretty good too.

It's the commentary that makes the sport - I've listened to football commentary - it's exactly the same as you've described above for football... sleep

I've also listened to bad cricket commentary and it can be dull too...

Thank heavens there isn't cricket on the radio. If I accidentally tuned in to that, I'd be asleep, off the road and dead within seconds.

Indeed, the scarcity of pigeons in Cardiff was a subject of some discourse while Vic Marks and Blowers were on in the morning session.

"It's disgraceful, no cricket on my car radio. Apart from R4 LW. Which my car can receive."

Most pointless post on PH?

Next:
1 It's disgraceful that Long Wave doesn't give the same sound quality as FM. When will the government act?

2 Why oh why don't all manufacturers fit DAB radio as standard?

Five Live did produce perhaps the best piece of radio EVER, with this classic:

OK, but it makes it to the Top 10. For this morning at least.

predated 5Live by 3 years, it's from the '91 England v Windies test featuring the great Brian Johnston.

Good old Johnners. A true gentleman and a wonderful broadcaster. Had the pleasure to see his one man show shortly before his health declined. Johnners could keep your attention all day even if there was no play because of rain.
