I spent most of my time trying to invent a computer based, world wide communications network that billions of people could swap information via. I was pipped to the post, unfortunately. So i went back to being an underpaid squaddy.

We used to ring up Blockbuster and ask about films with made up names, and get the staff to spend ages finding out about it, phoning up halfords to ask about the new 'inflatable bike', phoning up random people saying we were from BT and we needed to test their phone line - then getting them to stand 5 meters away from the handset and shout 'oranges' or something else at the top of their lungs (yes, people really did do this). Ahhh, them were the days.

Ditto. When to pass time I mostly tried making napalm made out of styrofoam nicked out of technology and petrol smuggled in in 500ml coke bottles.
