NSFW : Fancy Dress - Japan

The missus has asked me to consult the PH masses before she tears her hair out over a fancy dress party we're going to next month.
The theme is Japan. I'm going as (a slightly weedy) Ryu from Street Fighter. I've suggested ninja, giant robot, Godzilla, schoolgirl, Samurai and sushi for my good lady, but she wants something less obvious.
Any thoughts?

Check on eBay for Cosplay - the Japanese love getting dressed up as their fave cartoon characters. Maybe Manga or anamie or something similar..?

Failing that - Kill Bill jumpsit and Asics yellow trainers. Or something from The Ring..?
