k about with it, i have permenant back pain now from coming off a bike and not letting it rest/heal properly. it f
Depends wether the floor fails a "slip test"
Year ago I was called into to do one by one of the guys who worked at a gym, cant say where. Poolside needed checking and changing rooms, they just marginally passed the test in both wet and dry conditions. Put my report in, saying that the floor in certain areas was dangerous, and would need sufficent amount of work to bring those areas upto standard, but it has marginally passed I think it was over 51% of the whole area passed.
Response I got was that was good enough for them, and if anyone slipped they would use this report to show them that its safe, I was speechless.
Also bear in mind, that most slip tests are done with 3 machines, the Tortoise which is pretty naff imho, the pendulum test which is the one the HSE go by is so outdated now and is designed to recreate a shoe slipping on a floor. One we use, I always forget them name off, is designed to mimic a heel slipping on the floor, and is by far the best system, not many use it as its so much work to set it all up.
So if it got tested, it would probably be done with the pendulum test, or the Tortoise.
Also I will guess its a tiled floor, two reasons for slipping on a tiled floor.
Wrong tiles used be suprised just how common this is
Really poor cleaning regime, all the pourous holes on the tile and the tile surface is covered in body fats and oils.
Now if you have "slipped" over and landed on another man and his penis landed in your mouth, then I have no interest in this thread

I don't think the physics have changed recently.
As much as the 'management' may have provided an alternate surface, you might have worn some footwear.
Or were you waiting to catch atheletes foot and sue them over that, too?

Surely you should have had a dry shower and not let the floor get wet and slippy. I think some of the public should have to run their own businesses to see how difficult it is to comply with the regulations now all around us, and how their clients will find a way to show that they are liable. Maybe you should have used the disabled shower with a hand rail. I despair of the attitude in this country that is becoming like the US for litigation, don't we all have to accept some degree of risk in life, whether it be a pothole in the road or the fact that wet = slippy. It's like blaming someone for not gritting the roads when you get stuck in snow...watch the forecast and take heed. There are several dangerous roads near here with a lot of crashes thro hedges and the like, peolpe are forever wanting different surfaces on the road so that they can continue to drive at the speed they do and blame the road rather than adjust their behaviour to the environment. Who would you sue if you fell over on some ice while walking on a country path? It's icy so be careful....etc etc

I agree. You went to the gym and slipped over by yourself in the shower and you deserve a monetary prize for being clumsy? Perhaps living with yourself and deciding that you should be more careful as the years wear on would be a better option, rather than claiming money for nothing?

Harsh. A business providing wash facilities should take care to ensure that the correct surfaces are used.I don't think the physics have changed recently.

A wet concrete floor is almost never slippy.

Err, its 2009, surely slippery shower floors have been eliminated with adequate floor covering, not that I go to a gym, (My body is like a temple without it), so guessing really.I don't think the physics have changed recently.
