Can't decide if it is or not. I know Magenta Recruitment exist, however, there are a few obvious mistakes (Gold instead of Golf) and the fact that this golf course is in Nigeria! What do you think?

Number and contact details seem correct so I don't think it is a scam.

My thoughts are that it would be a very stange form of scam. They have made their target audience very very small. How many golf course designers are there in the uk, 100/200? How many are currently looking for a job 50 or 60? How many of those are in a position to move to to Nigeria, maybe 10. If they were asking for labourers I might be suspicious. Just make sure you don't part with any cash. Whilst Nigeria is famous for it's scams, it is as a result of the gulf between rich and poor being huge - there are some very very rich people in Nigeria so it's not unresonable they might be building an hotel and golf course.

Just to clarify. I have a job and I'm not looking for another. I do work in that field and have had contact with Magenta in the past.

The agent might be genuine, but would anyone in the UK actually trust a Nigerian company? Even if the money was paid up front I'd still want to wait two years for it to clear.

Seems legit to me TBH.

We used to do this in my old company, it's called a 'mail shot'.

They'll have put a few keywords into their database, which your name is evidently on, and they fire a generic email to all the people with those keywords in their CV. The batabase will change all the names so it says 'dear mark' rather than just 'hi' or something.

If they send them to 100 people and 2 get back to them with referals then it's been a worthwile excercise... really would get on my nerves though!

Ask them to take you off their database if you don't want to get anymore.

Don't forget the hotel would probably normally get 5, maybe even 6 stars, rather than the 4 advertised if it weren't for the fact that its in Nigeria. My dad used to fly there regularly - surprisingly he only ever got mugged once and even then the attempt failed!
