Telly telly on the wall- who's the campest of them all?
Discussion
Dead simple.
A mate of mine in the states claims graham norton is the campest thing ever to mince his way onto telly.
As is normally the case, I disagree.
I am sure no 1 puddle jumper is the guy off Dickinsons Real Deal.
Who is right, or is there anyone else that is more camp than a boy scouts jamboree?

They've both got to be at the top of the most annoying people on TV poll.
I would actually like to hold Norton by he ankles (no this is not what you are thinking, bear with me) and swing him round as hard as possible so his head clashed with Alan Carr's again and again and again.
Downside is that on each impact, they would probably make that poxy "ooooh" noise that seems to be their entire skillset.
Other than that, I think they are ok.

Erm, it was more a simple question of who is the campest person on the telly as opposed which camp person on telly you would most like to murder!
Although, with Carr, I can see your point.
Is he more camp than the antiques bloke on Dickensons though, or just a bloke whose act revolves around letting the audience know he is a sexual deviant in every joke??

All this aggression from some of you - it can only be repressed, latent homosexuality.
This is true. All you homophobes are just angry because your repressed urges are being squirted at women, when in fact you seriously want it on Cadbury Street from somone who flosses.I actually like Alan Carr because his sexuality is just a part of him (he is actually a funny bloke) whereas Norton seems to have just his sexuality as a persona, and little or no talent evident.

We went through this in one of the many recent queer threads.
I've not got a gay bone in my body.
I'll set 'em up, you knock 'em down
Alan Carr, for my money, is the campest of the current crop. Additionally, he's the one I'd like to punch the most.
It's not that he's gay - I don't give even a mouse-sized s
t about his sexuality - but the fact that his act appears to be one long play on the well-worn "oooh, look! I'm gay, I am! I like BOYS!!!!!!" routine.
Strangely enough, I have no problem with Julian Clary, who I think is one of the funniest and cleverest comedians I've seen. In his case I guess the talent transcends the glittery wrapping.
I find campery hugely annoying in general. It seems to be acceptable to present homosexuality in plain view as long as you're seen as being weird, different, not-one-of-us. So long as gays are seen as strange aliens, they're fun to laugh at. Lenny Henry did the same in his early years, playing the 70s stereotype black kid, but audiences have grown up since, and you'd simply not see that now.
In the same way, I'd have thought that most gay comedians would think that a camp act would be seen as very demeaning these days. I'm just surprised that there's still an obvious demand on television for this sort of dated end-of-the-pier act.
