This week I have mostly been reading about Ancient Astronauts smile

The theory is that a few thousand years ago we were visited by aliens and we suddenly started building amazing structures; no.1 being the pyramids of course.

Also, some recent shots of Mars show a collection of pyramid like structures. These are much larger than our ones but identical in their geometry, and they are sited near to where the 'face' is located.

and the Mars bit:

Ancient scriptures also elude to what must have been types of aircraft (what they called Sky Boats):

One theory is that we modern humans have a bit of Martian in us. i.e. that the 'Sky Boat' riders, the ones that helpe us build Pyramids, were Martians sewing their seeds before Mars went tits up.

So... Ancient Astronauts, Any thoughts?

Strange things are happening in space, and they remind one on the 1989 'Phobos Incident' when a Soviet spacecraft was shot down by a missle fired from the moonlet Phobos
He is also a believer in planet X. A mysterious 12th planet that orbits every 3600 years and is due to come back in 2012 and wreck chaos and destruction on the planet.

A well known, fking nutcase!

Sitchin makes David Ike look sane.

The cydonia Mars face is very sketchy, it starts well, but after a while it claims loads of amazing details of teeth and head-dress on the face, but hasn't produced any pics to back up this detail, not even a basic drawing in MS Paint over the top.

The city plans are also pretty vague, any bump is immediately recognised as a feature. If it was struck by a meteor, no doubt he'd add "municipal baths" onto the plan.

Another point is it follows the reverse of Occam's Razor, and the basis of orthodox religion, ie. life didn't just appear, it's too complex to just burst into existence, an outside force must be in play.
This seems to come back time and time again with people having no faith in the human intellect.
Anything that seems impressive get's put down to aliens or gods, which is a shame.

There is plenty of weird and wonderful things out there that almost defy belief though, the pyramids, the Nazca lines, the Baghdad battery and the antikythera mechanism for example.

Total absolute nonsense.

The original populariser of these tales was a former Swiss hotelier and bankrupt called Erich Van Daniken. I read some of his books almost years ago. For a very brief period (about ten minutes probably) I thought that there might be something in it.

His two best sellers were "Chariots of the Gods" and "Gods from Outer Space".

All done in the 1970s by Eric von Daniken.

Clever hokum neatly dispatched by Brian J Ford in his excellent book 'The Earth Watchers'.
