Just had the wife on the phone, asking if we'd heard an enormous explosion?! Apparently all the neighbours are out in the road trying to work out what on earth it was - as the wife put it it was a "proper window shaker" and scared the crap out of all of them. I'm only 3 miles away in the city and didn't hear a thing, so I'm assuming more the Chilworth side?

ahh that's that old rivalry thing between people from different areas who like to watch grown men chase a bag of wind around before having a very homosexual moment in a communal bath isn't it? I believe I'm supposed to get all haughty and shout "Skate" now as a form of retaliation or something similar?

And no, no I think even my wife and neighbours could mistake thunder for an explosion tongue out

I work for the emergency services and we haven't been alerted to any explosions. Yet.

You could well be suprised. Thunder can indeed sound like an explosion as well as a crack.

one can but hope ( I assume you meant Gosport exploding in it's entirety wink ) but I think as I'm closer I'd have heard it before the wife.

I'm assured that the clear-ish sky, lack of rain or indeed precipitation in any form suggest not thunder, it was a single large "boom" with no rumblyness following it.

But then if the emergency services haven't heard anything I guess it can't have been too bad!
