I've just been digging around for something in the cupboard under the stairs. I failed to find what I wanted, but I did come across a bottle of 16yr old Lagavulin whisky and a bottle of Remy Martin VS Grand Cru.

I don't know where, when or how I got them. I've had both for a few years at least. Neither have been opened, and I really can't imagine that either ever will as long as they remain in my possession, as I can't stand spirits.

Looking on the web, it would seem that the scotch is worth around £40, and the Cognac £25. I can think of plenty of better things to do with £65 than having a couple of bottles gathering dust under the stairs, so I figured I'd put them on Ebay, but it turns out that's not allowed. The only way you can flog booze on Ebay is if someone is buying the bottle as a collector's item, rather than buying the contents.

Does anyone know of a way I can flog the vile stuff?

List it as an unopened bottle that you are selling and the contents is free, you are not selling it, see what happens!

At least if you keep yours, it will eventually become vintage. hehe Mine might well go up in value for all I know, but it's still not going to be collectible, so they still won't let me flog it! irked

Sfunny, I also have a bottle of whisky and a bottle of brandy hidden away unopened somewhere and I don't even drink. Although in my case neither of them has a name which sounds like a pharmaceutical product.

I can't be arsed with trying to sell them, I'm not sure what's going to happen. Probably leave them hidden and tell the removal men that if they find them they can keep them to make sure they do a proper job.

I know what you mean, but on the other hand, I keep thinking that if I flog the bottle of champagne in there as well, it's more or less exactly what I need for a 10 stop neutral density filter for the camera. smile

Take a look at some of the things Parrot of Doom put up over on CTF (and possibly on here too). The results are amazing! smile

Apart from all the artistic benefits - smoothing out water and the like - it has an unusual benefit of allowing you to take shots of tourist attractions swarming with people and get a result with no people in it, as they're never in one place long enough to appear on the exposure!

Apparently their original purpose is for taking pictures of blast furnaces and stuff like that.

I suppose I should visit the photography section more, I tend to avoid image-heavy threads.

Must say the "deserted tourist attraction" thing hadn't occurred to me... that is indeed rather cool biggrin as for blast furnaces, yes, I was wondering if you had a photo project involving molten metal or something smile

That used to work with cigars, but they've got wise to it.

Ridiculous - I'm sure the fat directors of eBay have a glass of wine now and again.

Alcohol is listed in other countries, so how does that work?

Is it due to our licensing laws?

In what way? you can buy wine online, over the phone and I believe there are specialist wine auctions.

From licensed retailers presumably.

I don't know, just speculating.

Have a quiz that people pay £65 to guess something simple and have the alcohol as the prize.
