Apparently a well known electrical store wont price match a camcorder with another store as it is a very slightly diferent colour....WTF?!?!

Anyone actually ever been succesful with a price match offer?

If I wanted a price match, I would go to the other store in the first place.

Got Comet to beat Argos once by 10%

Can affect price, Sony digiframe was 25% cheaper in brown.

So get it from the first place, it's the colour you want at the price you want. It's just that the second store had some added value that you also wanted.

From the logic displayed, your only measure of what constitutes a good deal is price?

Consumers. They're damned.

I've got Richer Sounds to price match before on a couple of items.

I like Richer Sounds very much.

Did you actually type that, or was the Plotbot enabled?

Sad as I am, I was counting down to it...

I've only got the two drums I'm afraid.

When people find themselves shopping at Tesco for everything they'll realise, all too late.

On that front, I noticed a Panny TH50PX8 for under £700 in there the other day. (I wasn't shopping there, I add)

Horribly outdated? Cause that looks seriously cheap to these uncivilized eyes.

Its a camcorder. The colour really isnt a deciding factor for me.

I was hoping to have a deal with Currys(1st store) but they refused to entertain the idea. I only wanted them to chuck in a SD card and i would have brought their camcorder which incidently has already been superceeded by another 2 models!

Why would they make them in brown then?

I thought this was a fairly common trick, with each of the high street electrical stores having slightly different models from one another so that you couldn't price match?

For example store A stocks a 'Washomatic Model ABC123'
Store B stocks 'Washomatic Model ABC124'

Whilst they might be basically identical they're not the same model so no need to price match.

Bought a washing machine a couple of weeks ago...

I asked Currys to price match Currys Online, they wouldn't even though they are the same company! The reason was due to overheads...

This is even though it is possible to order from Currys Online and collect from the store!

In the end I bought it from Pixmania, which is also part of DSG - it arrived in a Currys van and the paperwork states that if I have any problems/queries to contact the local Currys store.... It probably came from the warehouse of the local Currys store so why not price match, especially when it is the same company?

Once got a tyre-fitting and tracking place to price-match another place in town. Their advert said "Find a better price? We'll beat it by 10%".

I tried them out. The first of all flatly denied that the other tyre place stocked the tyres in question, then denied that they were the price advertised. They refused to call the other place up to verify the advertised price, and tried every trick in the book to deny that their offer applied in my case.

Whole palaver took around 40 minutes, and only when I said I would call TS did they back down.

I think I learned why they were never over-run with business. They simply didn't want to do business, and were run by a bunch of t055ers.
