To each their own, and all that, but - what is the bloody fascination with vampires!? There's always been the occasional vampire story, films etc, but it seems to be a peculiar 21st Century phenomenon that's gone a bit weird and crazy.

We have:
Vampire films
'Teen' vampire films
Vampire TV Drama
'Teen' vampire TV Drama
Vampire documentaries
People (teens rolleyes) dressing like vampires
People acting like vampires
People actually thinking they are vampires (rolleyes x10)

Where's all this come from? Why? Very strange idea to get excited about. Why so 'cool' to be undead!?

Get yourself to Whitby. It must be a sales black hole for shampoo and shower gel.

Escapism. Teens from 13-20 have this need to exist out side "the box" (no pun intended)to wrestle with there emotional and social problems.
That and people find comfort in the undead as they fecking hate everyone thats alive (Goth i think....)

I asked the very same question myself. I know a few lady folk that seem to be fascinated with all these US vampire things.

The closest I've come to an explanation - apparently its 'Sexual'.

Is it whitby that has some godforsaken ruin overlooking the town? THere has been an influx of goths becuase of said ruin, who;ve then decided they like the town and have stayed. Its now becoe a bit Goth Central.

I was taking a tenuous link from your closing (and more general) question "Why so cool to be undead?"

Nothing "supposedly" about it - the town of Whitby plays a large part in Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Ok. Seeing as you've admitted that it's tenuous, I'll admit there's a link! hehe
