I took a table & chairs and other bits to the tip as no one would take them off my hands, not even for free. I managed to offload the chairs to someone who worked there, which was good as it was a shame to waste them but he didn't want the table.

When I walked back to my car to get the table out, I noticed that the video recorded that I was also going to throw had the electrical lead hanging out the boot and down the car. When I got there I could see that someone had taken 2 table legs, which must have got caught on the video cable, which then fell out of the boot and the plug has swung into the car and made a nice big scratch.

There were loads of people but no one saw anything. I was at a tip, with things I was obviously getting rid of and would have happily given to anyone that wanted them, but someone felt the need to steal and damage my car. Cocks.

At lest it was one of those 'recycle' tips where everything has a special bay and so it was quite exciting. Yes I know, 0/10 as no swearing.

Too much hassle I fear. I'm just amazed that someone was not willing to just wait until I got back to the car and just ask. What the hell are they going to do with two table legs anyway!!

Next time you want to get rid of good quality stuff, try Freecycle.

The Guardianistas won't damage your car (unless it's a 4x4) and you might get a free lentil burger into the bargain.

I got rid of a table and 3 piece suite on Gumtree (a Polish couple had them and they were so chuffed!!!). But due to a mix up, the table and chairs had to go today.

The legs are square, they are not comfotable up the bottom hole. The paint finish is smooth though, which does help.

I've only been to the Reading tip once since it was opened - thank god for green bins.

I hated it - the parking bays are not diagonal like the previous tip, but you're expected to park in a line - using parallel parking?! Very silly lay out...
