Ok ok, not quite.

My little brother is due to start at sixth form next year but is very skinny. He needs a suit for 6th form but is only a 32" chest size.

Any ideas where we might find one? At the moment we've only found BHS doing this size, and don't want to spend loads on it as it's only for school/ 6th form.

Any suggestions of High St type shops which do sizes like this would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

M&S do nice suits for children, likely they would fit an older but smaller person.

Surely that's not exactly midget?! Have you tried 'suits you'? Usually have some decent brands at discounted prices, and they can do tailoring for him.

Alternatively, buy one that's a closer match, then find a seamstress to alter it for him. Used to do that with all my old work suits, and as long as they are decent quality to begin with, stay looking crisp for a long time.

of course they are easily defeated by the simple step of wearing clothing. I think actually it is for this reason that underwear was invented.

Why the heck does he need a suit for sixth form? All it will result in is everyone else taking the piss, and rightly so.

Where I did my A-levels it was the rule, not a choice, and still it is.

Some schools do.

I used to have to wear uniform for 6th form, others wore suits. It seems to be a grammar thing.

That is the dress code for sixth form at his school, suit, shoes, tie and shirt.

When I was there, it was explained that the dress code was so that we got used to dressing formally and were comfortable in those clothes. This meant that when it came to interviews etc we didn't seem ill at ease etc.

Quite sound logic in so far as Hounslow isn't that affluent and socially people don't tend to wear suits much. I certainly think it helped me in that respect.

Also, I find that it helps to encourage good behaviour, in a self fulfilling prophecy type way. Ask a kid to dress smartly and he'll tend to behave well as well.

try H&M, I got a fairly nice suit jacket from there for £30 a while ago, and went in last week and they had a few different ones in. Get a plain white shirt and some smart black trousers and the suit is complete! They had fairly small sizes too, mine was 34 inch chest I think
