Pegasus is the flying horse. Unicorn is the horse with the single horn (hence uni). The fairy tale myth goes that only a maiden can tame and ride a Unicorn due to being totally pure etc.

This is the creature that has never been.

They never knew it, and yet none the less

entirely loved it, from its suppleness

to the very light of the eyes, mild and serene.

It never was. And yet their love supplied

the need of being. They always left a space.

And in that clear space they had set aside

it lightly raised its head and felt no trace

of not being real. They did not give it corn,

but fed it with their feeling that it might,

somewhere, exist. Were able to confer

such strength, its forehead grew a horn. One horn.

It came up to a virgin once, all white -

and lived on in the mirror and in her.

Rilke.

Do they grant wishes? I am fairly certain that they fly but I have never heard of them granting wishes.
Nope. No flying.

And they can only be ridden by virgins. yes

So, if they existed, it would be a handy test. Here, love, would you mind just getting onto this nice horsie?

Mind you: it's not been documented what would happen if a non-virgin actually got plonked on top of one. It probably goes poof and disappears in a cloud of white smoke with a vaguely pained expression on it's chops.

The saying 'Corn on the cob' comes from the sound the unicorns would make whilst walking on cobblestones.

I made that up obviously.

The unicorn or the slapper?

To be honest, why would anyone want a Unicorn anyway. Big horses are scary at the best of times and then along comes one with a ruddy great big pointed horn on the front, beggars belief!

Dunno. Could be either. yes

That's the problem with mythical beasts. You can't carry out experiments on 'em being as they don't exist. One can only surmise or theorise what might happen.

I'd like it to be the slapper, though. yes

yes Especially as they can only be ridden by a virgin. I mean, THEY are rarer than Unicorns! hehe

It is an oft forgotten fact that Unicorns did, at one point at least, actually exist. However their demise came about with new pedestrian safety legislation, and the fact they had a ruddy great horn on the front meant that they could no longer be used for transport, etc, in public.

I thought a working horn was a requirement for the MOT?
