Any Beaters & Picker Upers??

Yep have been beating on a shoot near Knighton in Wales since I was 12. Help out on a couple of little shoots too but thats the main one. 400 bird days and a car park full of Range Rovers and Cayennes etc. Its a rather large shoot.
Don't have a dog for it though, tried with my terrier but she wasn't any good (wouldn't leave my side!)

I've got the other problem. Once my springer gets on a scent, he's off. Goes whistle deaf and charges around like a blue arsed fly. Eventually he comes back with his tail between his legs, 'cos he knows he's done something bad. Other people who know more about these things than I do have told me the only way to stop it is to use an electric collar, but I haven't the heart (or stomach) to try it. So he doesn't come beating with me any more. Should be 'are some wkers', also the 'seriously' is superfluous to the thrust of the argument and detracts from its overall impact.
