I really don't understand how some people who are obviously car enthusiasts can be unable to spell words that they must have seen written thousands of times.

I was looking at an ad on ebay just now, this chap has put a car together, nice car too, and yet has written

Webber (Weber)
Minilight (Minilite)
Willins (Willans)

I mean, FFS, it written on the products in question, and in fking big print on the harnesses!

"Breaks" instead of "brakes" never fails to amaze me.

I've seen that one too, quite often. I just cannot understand how someone who has seen the word spelt correctly a vast number of times, and who is able to spell 'Alpha' and therefore cannot be educationally sub-normal, can fail to spell Alfa correctly.

I've seen bumber around a few times, but the best is when someone needs a new tyre because of a puncher.

"complimented by..." instead of "complemented by..." ... just makes me think of talking seats, telling the bodywork how nice it looks today...

What gets me is "bumber". It happens all the time. How hard is it to realise there is a p in the bloody word?

There's actually nothing wrong with that one, it's not an incorrect spelling, just an old-fashioned one. Read some Victorian documents about stopping devices on railway vehicles...

Similarly "bib" referring to the noise of the horn, it's "beep" for fk's sake, a bib is a thing a baby wears to eat.
