Okay, so I’m really out of touch with fashion and what hot and what’s not, but has anyone else noticed the trend for wearing really big glasses (i.e. Buddy Holly, Garth from Wayne’s World style). I was in London on Saturday and saw quite a few young people sporting them and to me it just looks odd, then last night my wife decides to put on the Madonna concert she recorded a few weeks ago, and what’s she wearing at the end of the concert, big glasses! What’s the deal, is it a Hip Hop thing or something?

Are you talking sunglasses? Can't stand them! Went to Westfield yesterday and the amount of self important people, whom all must have been models (obviously), had them on. Inside.

Phil, you are missing a singnificant detail.
It is the huge multicoloured plastic framed sunglasses that everyone is wearing.
When I first saw someone wearing them I thought it was a joke. THey look like babies cheap sunglasses that you get from an egg in a vending machine at a fair.
And yet suddenly everyone thinks it is good to spend £100 on a cheap plastic pair of £2 comedy sunglasses that arent funny.
I want to grab these people by the eye and show them themselves in the mirror and insist that they explain why they think they look cool and not a .

Freudian slip spelling error there. Though 'exactly', is the response, as typed.

I'm like the OP, as in not really much fashion sense. Never have, never will, I just dress in what suits me, if its fashionable, jackpot, if not, dont care.

Anyway it was pointed out to me the other day that the 80's fashions are "back in" Polka Dot skirts and leggings, Bright alost luminous tops, big belts etc etc. What goes around etc etc.

Pish. It's not enough for them just to be big anymore. I've seen a girl wearing these in a nightclub and a young chap wearing them while walking through town.

I've noticed a lot of 80s coloured plastic sunglasses being worn, they look pretty ridiculous.

Also lots of the huge Victoria Beckham style sunglasses being worn indoors by plain, usually porky birds, giving it the "I'm so fking cool" attitude. No you're not love, you're fking munting.

My nephew gleefully showed me his 'new look' at the weekend

Skinny Jeans, long white t-shirt, flat cap, one of those scarves with tassles on and BIG white framed sunglasses - he actually looked quite good, but it was how the GIRLS used to dress in the early '80s - he wasn't impressed when I told him

In my experience recently... the big funky glasses thing started getting really popular in clubs when people were on pills and trying to hide their freaky eyes... I heard.

That's it! People are wearing them because the lower half of their face is an enormous rubber chin-mask!
