Decent hotels within decent reach of Wembley Stadium
Discussion
Evening all,
SWMBO and I are going to a concert at Wembley Stadium next month and, as a result, will need to find suitable hotel accommodation somewhere in London for that Saturday night. All the hotels near to Wembley itself seem a bit basic and overpriced, whereas we seem to get a much better ratio of comfort/value-for-money if we get something a little further out and then use public transport to get to and from the venue. I've never been to Wembley and have only seen it on maps, so I don't know the area well at all.
Does anyone have any recommendations of decent places to stay, and how much use of public transport would be necessary to get to and from the stadium? I don't mind tube use (I'm a fan) or even moderate taxi use, but buses are a no-no and, of course, we have to keep in mind the fact that we'll be needed to get back to hotel fairly late on that saturday night.
I'm looking for something half-decent (4* or better) but don't want to be raped financially. A suggestion has been the Crowne Plaza in Ealing, but I'm unsure as to whether it's any good?!
As an aside, I could stay in the Marriott West India Quay (near the O2) for free, but I realise it's very far away and it might be difficult (unrealistic?) to get to and from Wembley on a Saturday evening.
Any thoughts or suggestions welcome.
Regards,
EYW
