Dumb Thieving Scum
Discussion
OUr house has been empty for a few weeks as it is on market and we don't live there.
got back yesterday morning to collect post and to do garden.
In the kitchen foudn that some pikey scum have knocked down a fence panel, went through the dog flap and put the covers neatly on the conservatory sofa and forced the kitchen window and knicked a brand new petrol power hedge trimmer, pulled down a wall mounted surround sound speaker, left their house key.
Outside they had forced the shed door and knicked a mini moto.
scum.
Now I am not a theif but if i was going to rob a house I would;-
1, make sure house was empty - check
2, make sure stuff in house - ahhhh

ahh yes, but you said they got away with a strimmer and a mini moto. so there was stuff.1, make sure house was empty - check
2, make sure stuff in house - ahhhh
If they had looked through any windows they would have seen the house was empty. The lounge had a bass speaker in there only.
The shed had crap in there that was being thrown on the skip yesterday, including min moto whcih didn't work.

Is there no way of 'tracking' the house from that key? Can't forensics get their little brush out and get fingerprints?
We had police out, they called SOCO. He said couldn't take finger prints as not big or smooth enough, despite them touching many things, he could only get prints from the PVC Window.tim2100 said:

We had police out, they called SOCO. He said couldn't take finger prints as not big or smooth enough, despite them touching many things, he could only get prints from the PVC Window.Firstly, SOCO came round 2 days after the place was broken in to, funnily enough it seemed prudent to make the house secure before then.
Secondly, if the police had managed to get their fat arses off out of the police station which is only 200 yards away from my house, they may have managed to catch the scum actually in my house instead of telling my neighbour when he phoned while they were inside that there was "nothing they could do". If they wanted to be really proactive they could have came round the first time he called after he heard them break a window and saw them run off, waiting for 10 minutes to see if anybody was in the house to respond.
But obviously, what do I know about policework, i'm sure it's all much too complicated for me to understand why none of that was possible...
