Hi everyone. For the last week or so my Spaniel has been in and out of the sea.Unfortunately the sea and sand has had a horrendous affect on his ears! Before we went away he had no tangles and now-OMG! they are totally trashed. I've been rinsing him each day but didn't notice the tangles. So I have just spent 40 minutes putting conditioner on them and trying to comb it through. Still not much better. So should I leave til dry and try then with comb or try and persevere with them wet? The lady who grooms him is away on holiday and I need help!!

OMG! I've never had him clipped!! Normally I keep his ears dead tidy. I don't think I can do that to him!

Not yet. Spent ages sat combing conditioner through. Will go to pet shop tomorrow and get one. I usually only need a brush because he's so good at being groomed-hence never having had him clipped.

Deodorant can and a lighter? Make the little chap wear some sunnies first so you dont get his eyes.

Frizz-Ease serum or similar should do it and gentle wide tooth comb.

Sounds like our dozy Spanial. As suggested use a stripping comb and a wire(ish) grooming comb and just go gently - Trouble is they get pissed off and wander away frown

He's ever so good and stands in the bath for 40 minutes! I really don't want to get him clipped.

I know, but the truth is that (at lets be honest) in this weather its sodding hot, and it will always grow back smile

Do you have the inside of his ears shaved to stop ingrowing hair?

Is this serious or a wind up? Because if serious then no I don't. I brush his ears everyother day. never had any problems.

So basically you've come onto piston heads to tell the world that your spaniel's ears are all tangled up and need clipping. You're a brave brave girl.

Our Springer gets groomed every 6 weeks - ears trimmed, paws trimmed and withers sorted.

She is clipped twice a year.

Needs to be done as she is forever in mud and water etc
