So…………… today sees the release onto the market of “Home DNA kits” which for £29.99 from all good pharmacies allow a man to swab the cheek of their child, swab their own cheek, and send the two samples off. Four days later, they get confirmation whether or not they are the father.
There are at least four blokes here who will be buying and using one today, to ensure that they have not been paying out for someone else’s kid.
There must be some women who are absolutely bricking it. Women who have lied and lied. And who are about to be shown as the liars they are.
Of course, on the radio this morning, there was a procession of women moaning about the rights of the mother and how awful this new product was. What about the thousands of poor saps who have been bringing up and paying for the milkman’s progeny?
At last, some rights for men. At long last.
There is a clear split in our office – all of the men think this is fantastic – to be able to confirm that you are the father, or not, and act accordingly. The women (surprise surprise!) think this is a breach of their ‘oooman ‘rahhhhhts. What about the human rights of men who are tricked into bringing up some else’s kid by SWT?
Anyone here buying one then?

king wonderful, though. I'm sure there will be some disadvantaged people out of this - including blokes - but it really will help produce some honesty between partners and that can only be a good thing.stifler said:

I know of one couple who insist on a genetic throwback going back 6 generations that makes "their" daughter half black. Xmas present for him maybe?

This story would seem to suggest that one requires the permission of the mother, too.
They claim that the test has no legal standing.
My view would be so what? Once you know the truth you could go the legal route to get the proof if you felt it was worth your while...
