Virgin came to do an install on Tuesday and realised there was no T outside the house and the engineer said they would need to drill in to the pavement etc. He said he would have to speak with his manager who would then ring me within 24 hours. However, i have heard nothing and have no contact number but apparently this manager has an office nearby (can't find it on google). When i ring the general virgin number it puts me through to India and obviously they have no records of this happening as it has just been left with this local manager and they don't know his number (or they wont give it me).

Just wondering where I stand and if anyone knows how I could find out where this office is, it is somewhere in Huddersfield.

Anyone else wondering what a T would be doing outside the house or what it means?

Sounds like he means that there was a V there, but no T. Naturally you need both.

So not just the exchange like normal places?

It's the little black triangle which is usually outside each house in a cable area. However, we have moved in to a new build home (there are 4 semis and a detached which have been built where one big bungalow used to be). Therefore there is only one T as there only used to be one house. This one T can only be used to supply 19 with cable and we are 19a, so we require our own T to be placed in the pavement outside the house which apparently requires council permission. Pisses me off when people don't keep in contact as you have no clue what is going on

Bit of a ball ache...I'd suggest contacting the sales dept...if there's one thing that gets attention it's waving the money in front of their noses.

(am confused on the TV/exchange thing)

So was I

Basically, the cable is sent by fibre optic from the exchange in Huddersfield town centre to the green box which is in the street. The green box then feeds the cable (now copper wire) to each of the 'T' in the road. From there it is then connected to each house.

This is how i understand it and as digging will be required they need council permission, which I assume the manager is trying to get. Either that or he has just forgotten about it and i'll never hear from them again. The contract started on Tuesday aswell so I'm currently being charged for services which I'm not receiving

Get your internet via the phone line instead.

Get Sky if you must increase the available number of TV channels not worth watching.

You could try the forum on digital spy: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.ph...

One of the posters on there is called BenMcr, he works for VM in the customer side, he may be able to assist. There are some other installers / techs on that site as well.
