So, does anyone here work within the 10 pin bowling industry??

I have an interesting idea that I have never seen before and I would love to tell somebody who maybe able to take it further.

Not necessarily to make any £££ out of it (although wouldn't mind tbh! hehe)

Cheers

I've often pitched adding an extra pin to the bowling bigwigs, but they're just not interested. I don't see why not, surely the more stuff to knock down, the more fun it is? I'd even pay 10% extra if I got to knock down an additional pin.

bowling alley pay sucks. unless you're an area manager for someone like AMF/Hollywood bowl/etc.

Just tell us the idea Moose. Its probably been done. Is it filling in the gutters so your mates don't constantly shout "Gutter ball" when you bowl?.

I fear your idea is doomed to fail, there is no way that the authorities will allow you to line up 10 dwarves and roll heavy balls at them.

no "Elf & Safety" replies, ta!

I prefer the Wii version - in the "Training" section, one of the challenges is to bowl an ever increasing number of pins. They start off with ten, then add another back row, then another, then another etc until you aim for about 97 pins (or near enough). Double score for a strike - still to beat my 732 total!

They pee'd on your rug didn't they? And Mr. Lebowski wants his money back.

Might as well post it up here - not much chance in making any ££ out of it, but thought it would be a fun extra!

Anyway, wanted to have sound effects for when you bowl stuff - was mainly thinking in a Quake style voice things like:

  • Unstoppable (was thinking if you roll a turkey)
  • Godlike (maybe if you get 4 strikes in a row or something)
  • Rampage
  • Dominating (if you are like double the other players score)
  • Holy st (if you score 300 ... but probably wouldn't go down too well wink )
And then there would be bowling specific ones such as:

  • Gutterball
  • Airball (when there are pins standing, but you miss them all, but not a Gutterball)
  • Split
Anyway, just thought it would amuse a lot of people and not be particularly expensive to add on!

Cheers

P.S. Be honest now, who read that list above in the Quake voice out loud (I certainly did typing them paperbag)??

Good for kids parties, but might be annoying to the other players who aren't into computer games.

They do stuff like that at the bowling centre in Spain where we stay. Far far superior and cheaper than any I have been to over here, and comedy sketches at all the different 'options'

Where somebody has missed all pins but not gutterball the cartoon video is of the pin jumping out of the way of the ball.

I've seen the vids of the cartoons etc, but just never heard the voiceovers.

Maybe able to disable it if you like??

It may appeal to people not into their computer games - as the words don't just relate to a specific game (if you know what I mean)??

Just a thought a mate and I had whilst bowling the other week!

the only problem with having sound effects is that you've got say 20-30 lanes and on a friday night the sounds will be too much

This was something I thought of, but you could have a directional speaker aimed in the direction of the participants, or something similar could be worked out I'm sure!

Plus, who cares if there is a load of noise?? It's loud anyway!! smile

My concern was noise too - but you can get VERY directional speakers these days. I think they are expensive, but it's one option for making the sound localised to that lane only.
