I've posted about MOBA before - as it's one of my favourite 'galleries'.

I actually prefer this to the National Portait Gallery in many repects.

I think it's the accessible 'interpretations' that are so special.

There really is something for everyone.

They have some recent aquisitions. I really can't decide on a favourite today

Either 'Ronan the Pug'

or

'Eileens uncle Phil'

Yes i read the link smile

But all types of art will appeal to someone. As I said the pictures you posted above do not appeal, however the 'unseen forces' collection I thought were quite good (in a bad way... does that make sense.... I'm confused! lol)

Yes it does make sense. I love the art and it makes me grin for being so totally st and knowing that there is someone out there who is really proud of it.

Maybe because two of my favourite things are live comedy and art galleries. This is both!

I must admit it did make me chuckle some of the paintings, whether they be 'tongue in cheek' or just that the painter is genuinely crap with a brush.

But that is what art is about evoking a reaction, be it bad/ good or even indifferent smile

I'm still going through the pictures and some of them really are funny

rofl (But I'm relieved to see that some of the "artists" have donated their own works, I thought for one horrible moment that they took themselves seriously.)

I got the impression that fans of MOBA send in finds from junk shops etc and then they are 'interpreted' (sarcasm IS funny).

Anyway - I have decided upon a favourite:

Admittedly I've only found a couple.

MOBA said:
This disturbing work "makes an offer you can't refuse". The chilling, matter-of-fact manner in which the subject presents the severed head to us is a poignant reminder of just how numb we have become. The understated violence implicit in the scene speaks volumes on our own desensitization, our society's reflexive use of force, and the artist's inability to deal with the hindquarters of the animal.
Thought provoking stuffyes

I bet everybody laughed at Sarah Jessica Parker when she first hung that in her lounge. Not laughing now though! Since MJ snuffed it that picture must be worth literally pounds more!

Reminds me of the wall of my GF's kitchen with her 3 year olds "art" I regularly ask him what the latest masterpiece is a picture of. Very often the answer is "I don't know" very good answer I tell him. The day he replies that its whatever I feel it is of or some such answer I will know hes a true genius.
