How do

Anyone know why the instructions that come with Thermos flasks warn against putting cold or hot milk in a thermos flask but yet everyone uses them for coffee etc?

It smells! I used to do this so I could have ice cold milk for cereals at work, but if you don't wash it out straight away it can smell really bad. If you wash it out with Bicarbonate of soda it should be ok.

Well as I used to work at Thermos so here goes.

They put that on the instructions because they didn't want people putting prewarmed milk in them for babies. Warm milk in a non sterile environment that will retain that warmth is good for bacteria growth. It was also a protective statement so people wouldn't sue if they got ill.

Thermos did (they may still do) make a baby flask which was for hot water to be put in the flask. Then poured into the over size recepticle and then the baby bottle to be put in that to let the hot water warm it up.

So does that mean there is no problem having cold milk in it aslong as it is washed immediately?

I don't know of anyone who has died as a result of doing this smile

I think you just need to make sure you wash it out asap and get the bicarb on the case as well.

I used to take a flask of milk to work everyday as part of my training programme without any snags. You do need to remember to clean it out on Friday though....had a few 'bks!' moments on Monday morning when I'd forgotten.

If you are taking it to work get some sterident denture cleaning stuff.

Easier to store than bicarb and very good at cleaning inside of Thermos flasks with the added bonus that should a GILf offer a blow job you can offer to clean her dentures at the same time.

Part of your training was to take a flask full of milk to work?

What were you training for?

Milton, the baby bottle cleaner is probably better than Sterident for "purifying" bottles and flasks. Many bike riders use it for cleaning plastic bidons (water bottles).

It's the programme to become a milkman. First you prove you can be trusted to deliver 1 pint a day...
