Yeah good point (was on the phone and never been good at doing 2 things at once)
I am looking for a decent White shirt, one where the collar sits right either with a suit jacket on or without. Ideally want to buy it online as I need it for Saturday and have no time to hit the shops looking for one.
Any idea?

How it fits is as dependent on your body shape as it is the cut of the shirt. So if you already have a shirt that fits as you describe buy one made by the same people.Any idea?
Or if we are being PH snobs, go to Turnbull and Asser
Curtis & Dyer do an online made to measure service, where you measure several different points yourself and fill in a form and send it to them. They offer a range of collar options. About £65 iirc, and if you don't like the fit you can send it back to them and they'll alter it.
That's what I did for my wedding shirt.

You would have understood if you read what I wrote - I think the excitement of going on holiday on Saturday, mixed with the boredom of some customer on the phone whilst writing my post, enabled me to write something that a 4 year old would be embarrassed of.m3sye said:

I'm not sure if this is a whole shirt question or just a collar issue. On all my cotton shirts the collars begin to annoy me after minuites of them being on and it wont matter who makes them. One side curls out and one side curls in. Collar bones seem to be the answer but not the useless thin plastic ones they aways come with. You need something thick to keep them in shape. I think as long as they have the pockets for the bones the collar need not be an issue.
As for the rest of the fit the only shirts I have had that have fitted me were bespoke ones I had made in thailand but they don't fit anymore. All off the peg stuff is similarly ill fitting from one brand to the next.

is there a debenhams near you? i had to buy one a while back for an interview the next day. debs had quote a decent range. bought a double cuffed jeff banks one for £20. decent quality, very soft cotton, and as i rarely wear white shirts it was good value too.
Shirt should know, I'd go with what he says! These are good
£20 - 40: M & S, Harvie & Hudson
£40 - 70: Hilditch & Key, Stanley Ley, Ede & Ravenscroft
£70 - 100: Paul Smith, Turnbull, Boss, Emmett, Polo
£100+
- Emma Willis, Armani Collezioni, Richard James, Zegna, Canali
I haven't bought shirts from Lewin/Charles T for about two years but lots of bad reports from them in the forums if you search
I would check the websites, ring them up and explain - perhaps they will do a courier service for you
