London (City) working fine at the moment, but yesterday had problems when I was in the Victoria area. It helps sometimes to reboot the phone.

Regularly goes pants in Victoria area, am so going to switch to Vodafone when contract expires.

My guess is it's just a capacity issue, due to the high concentration of people in the cell area (and using the phone while getting on/ off trains). Other networks are the same around there.
