Cat insurance....
Discussion
Short question, with a potentially long answer.
Firstly look at what the policy will give you in return for the monthly payments (doesn't matter if moggy or pure breed)
Generally cheaper monthly payments poorer return when making claims.
Look at Pet plan as Gold standard (Only pet only insurance) and compare everything else to them.
Personally I am with Sainsbury's and they have treated me well so far.
Paid out 4.5k last year for my cat after an RTA which meant 4 months of intensive treatment aswell as smaller claims for her for previous illness.
Paid out 1.1k this year for my dog after he was very badly bitten by another dog. Several weeks of tx to repair a saucer sized wound on his chest! and previous claims because of him eating stuff he shouldn't have!.
They have never faultered in paying yet, so I can't complain!
Hope that helps.
Can't express how important insurance cover is these days. Pets can have so much more done for them these days but it does come at a cost.

i use Tesco.
£13 a month i think. Not sure if thats good or bad as i'm im far too lazy to every check for cheaper insurance!!
We use Tesco too I think, may be PetPlan though? Wife sorts it out, I just pay it. We have the top level of cover and have not had any issues with them. Our vet will deal direct with them etc. £13 a month i think. Not sure if thats good or bad as i'm im far too lazy to every check for cheaper insurance!!
I think the biggest payout was £1800 for one of our cats when he was in for 10 days after some little
s pulled his tail and broke a few bones.Cheaper policies give less cover, simple as that. As pointed out they'll either only cover short-term illness or limit incidents that are covered - e.g. cover an accident but not Feline HIV, Leukemia etc.
We use: https://www.petplan.co.uk/therightcover/cat.asp
One of our went missing a few years ago and they didn't quibble over paying out the a reward to the person who handed the cat into the vets (she was partially disabled and had used a taxi to get to the vet and back when our scrawny and dehydrated benagl turned up in her garden after being missing for 3 weeks and we got her £250 for her troubles, much more than the taxi costs).
Not the cheapest though & we've got 2 of the blighters.
So far, other than the above, we've not needed to use the insurance though but the peace of mind is what you pay for.
