anyone read his books? as a skeptic and a reader of less intelligent matters like grisham and mcnab they are a whole diff world to me. started with the alchemist and am half way through the pilgrimage. they seem somehow soothing but as a non religious person am torn between is this a load of mumbo jumbo crap or something more real. what do you think - has anyone read the pilgrimage do you think he actually had those experiences? do the books make you religious or more spiritual or just think its a con?

Borrowed alchemist from hot girl in order to impress her

Annoyed hot girl by criticising it biggrin

Was to OTT for me, plus as one review somewhere said somewhere, if you had just met god then WTF would you still be caring about a bit of treasure.

Much rather read some truly amazing works like Kafka's The Trial etc etc

Read a few of them. Liked The Devil and Miss Prym and Veronika Decides to Die.

They are a bit hippy, but if you drop all the spiritual crap and just go for the moral message you might quite like them.

I liked The Alchemist, but couldn't get into the others.

Do his books have a section in the back which summarises all cars on sale with price, bhp, max mph, torque, etc? And pithy summaries about said cars?

If not there is very little attraction and his work will not feature in my bathroom based library.

I read most of The Alchemist but gave up as I just found it preachy and irritating.

Yeah, but he mostly writes about Power to Weight ratios!
