Disgruntled with vet
Discussion
I just took my cat to the vet's for a routine booster jab. All was going swimmingly, until the vet left the consulting room to get a worming tablet LEAVING THE DOOR OPEN.
The cat of course did what any cat would do, and made an extremely swift exit through the waiting room, out of the wide open front door, into the car park, up a very steep grass bank and straight into the thick woodland at the front of the practice.
At this point I am beginning to panic. I mountaineered up the bank and followed the cat into the woods, climbing over fences, into brambles and shrubs trying desperately to coax it back. No sign of the vet or anyone else at this point.
The cat is utterly terrified by now, firstly because he'd been to the vet's, and secondly because he's in a massive unfamiliar forest being chased by me, who is swearing and attempting to sound cheerful so he would come to me.
After a good 10 minutes, I managed to creep up on him where he was hiding under a tree stump, and just manage to grab him. He struggled, in the process ripping a 2-inch tear in the front of my shirt, hissing wildly and smearing mud down my front.
I then, whilst juggling a spitting cat who is trying to use my shoulder as a scratching post, managed to climb back through the brambles, over the fence, down the slippery wet grass bank and back into the surgery where all the receptionists are looking ever so slightly panicked...
And do you know what? The vet didn't offer any kind of apology, just gave it the "who's a naughty boy" routine. And not a sniff of a reduction in the £70 I paid for a couple of injections.
I was too shocked really at the time to say anything, just bloody glad I got the cat back. My o/h, who's away at the moment, would have hit the roof if the cat had been lost. I know it's daft but I feel a bit sick now. I blinkin' love that cat and would have been so upset to have lost him.
I don't have any custard to hand, but here - I believe I have passed the Tesco cool salsa test?
Time to find a new vets.

Oh yes, and to add insult to injury, the cat did a ginormous log in the car on the way home.
You are going to have to do the 'Dorito Test' on that bit or it didn't happen
Seriously though - bit of a silly move by the vet to leave the door open while he knows there is an un-sedated animal in the room! I can appreciate why you are a tad annoyed at his reaction.
Have to say that our vet is a lovely bloke, and a real animal lover with a house full of pets. I can't remember how many cats he said he had, but it was way beyond the number I have told my wife will mark her out as a mad cat lady (in one of those "but it looks like a stray and it's raining and cold out and it looked so sad" conversations). He also gets bonus marks from me for confessing while advising us to put one of our mogs on a diet that he also has a fat cat and that expecting to get him below 6kg is probably optimistic.

I was hoping someone would dig that up.
OP - don't worry, you got your cat back and gingham check was soooo last year anyway (or even the year before that).
The cat did you a favour.
