In the early 20th Century a Henry Ford in the US wrote to the 'Distinguished Motoring Chronical' that he had invented a machinery for mass producing cars.
Nobody believed him, so he was forced to send in a photo of his machinery, featuring a tin of Bird's Custard somewhere in the picture.

Well back in the day, when custard was invented, someone decided that they needed to spread the word about it's vanilla goodness. The traditional way to do this was draw a picture and write a snappy line beneath it. But then the camera came along and some bright spark thought it would be easier to take a picture of it....and thus, custard photos were born.
I believe it started when jesus was mouthing off in an inn that he had turned water in to wine, everyone called said he was talking out of his arse as you would so he took a picture of himself with the wine at Oddbins in Bethlehem, Moses then told him to sod off and take picture with some custard (which had been discovered when mary was making a triffle for easter and needed something to finish off the dish) so Jesus then took a picture with some custard and so the tradition started.

Since when has custard been vanilla-flavoured? Except of course vanilla flavoured custard (which is exceptionally yummy but tastes nothing like normal custard, which is also yummy in a different way).To answer the OP, god himself knows (he knows lots).

It's just that sainsbury's do this lovely vanilla custard that tastes nothing like normal custard...

As far as I know it is a Barryboys original. The original post was along similar lines but I think it requested a can of beans on the car as proof. The OP only had a tub of Birds custard in the cupboard though and hey presto...away we go.
I've only ever seen it referenced her and on BB though.

I have been here 2 years but not all the time I have done a few other things as well - such as eat custard (or do you drink it when it is in conjunction with some kind of pudding).
By custard I mean the variety sold by Birds in tins and packets not any form of weird bodily fluid reference.

I have been here 2 years but not all the time I have done a few other things as well - such as eat custard (or do you drink it when it is in conjunction with some kind of pudding).
