£10k by January-moving to OZ

Hi all,

Missus is going back to Oz after 6 years here with me. I am following her out in January. Even though it's been a bit up and down in the motor trade for me and I 'did my own thing' for a couple of months this year, my debts are paid, ticket booked, visas paid for and I'm pretty much financially clear. I will be going into a job soon after I get there but wanted to have a bit of a 'buffer' just in case and figured £10k would do it for me. We will be staying with friends for a while and missus has her own savings so living costs won't be too big for a while but having a bit of pride, I don't want to be spongeing. I concentrated paying stuff off here as I didn't want the headache of trying to service debts from there but will end up being a bit short when I go.

So how would you raise it? Must be legal,not too immoral and no thievery but I don't mind getting my hands dirty or working like a dog. I'm employed at the mo but realistically and because I still have living expenses here, I will only be able to save a couple of grand until January.......Robbing banks, part time hit man or becoming a dictator in a little know African country etcc...are out. Suggestions please and do you think it can be done?

I would think the logical thing is to take on a second job. Bar work or something.

Plus what about selling some belongings. If you are moving to Oz perhaps you have some furniture/household goods to sell on ebay?

Do you have a lot of stuff you could sell? Is what my sis has done as she is going to NZ in dec, litteraly sold everything she owns

You are not going to make £2.5k a month after tax. If you are really serious about it take £1k to the casio and put it on red - repeat unitil its gone or you have £10k.
