Payroll query - loss of interest claim?
Discussion
A civilian colleague at work has just found out they've been on the wrong pay scale for about two years - they should have been getting more than they were (the pay scales are banded, with scale points on each level depending on time served/experience/qualification etc). Colleague was getting the right band, but not the right scale point in that band.
Can they claim for loss of interest that would have been earned on the money, had it been in their bank account? Plus, they were told the back pay would be included with the August payslip, but it hasn't been. Is there any recourse for this.
Or is tough poo, because colleague didn't check themselves they were getting paid what they should have been?
