Where to move to?

Hypothetical question (perhaps)...

Currently living in Edinburgh, wife, no kids, one cat.

Bored/fed up/etc and fancy a change.

Could probably sell up and clear about £200k tops to buy another house without needing a mortgage.

House would need to be: preferably detached, garage, drive, 2 beds min, not in some dire sink estate.

Where would you move to?

No, absolutely not.

Quite happy to attempt to find work wherever at whatever, don't need a huge income to survive (although it would be nice )

We live in the Cotswolds and love it to bits, but if we were ever to up sticks and move it would be to Edinburgh...

Try the other end of the country...Cornwall, not likely to get high wages there! Seriously though Cornwall is beautiful, just need to search carefully to ensure you don't end up in a tourist trap. (Rammed in Summer - Dead in winter) I guess you may be used to that already though! Ideal area if you like water sports or walking and some great roads.

Would love to move to Austrailia or the States. Why?...Because you would have to have money coming out of your nose to be able to afford something fairly spacious let alone been nice.

Personally, I would never buy a house in the UK, EVER. I would rather take a risk and move abroad.

If I had the cash, I would greatly wave England goodbye and would buy something like this for instance...

I live in between York & Leeds. And For some strange reason I always tend to avoid Leeds simply because everytime I go in, I always feel uncomfortable like I feel like I'm going to die.

York is your best bet in my opinion.

Northern Ireland, stay away from the bigger towns/cities full of chavs and it is fantastic. Far more fun than england, cheaper houses, great scenery, great driving roads, good shopping etc in Belfast and good nightlife pretty much everywhere. Decent places to work.

And its not full of English people.
