Cardiff. What's it like

My Niece has just passed her degree and accepted a Job in Cardiff as a Radiographer. Which means moving from the London suburbs to somewhere she's never set foot.
She's looking to get a house share of if one exists a cheap flat, but with no local knowledge of the area can anyone recommend or advise on the good and bad areas of Cardiff that by choice you would or wouldn't want to live?

She'll probably be best living in an area close to where she'll be working at first. I'm guessing she'll be working in UHW so a house share in Heath might be a good option, which is a fairly quiet residential area. If she wants to be somewhere a bit more lively but still close then a look around Cathays would be a good idea. There's a lot of students in the area so it can be quite lively. And if she wants to live in the City centre or the Bay and doesn't mind travelling to work there's loads of fairly new appartments available.
Cardiff's known for it's nightlife but, like most cities, theres good places and bad places. Luckily most of the bad places are located at the lower end of St Mary Street so it's easy to avoid them.

It's quite nice, compact. Imagine Bristol at 80%. If she's into nightlife then it's got a very good reputation. I'm assuming she's working at St Davids or the University Hospital? Has she got any thought on areas she'd like to live, I may be able to offer some advice on that - there are definitely areas to avoid.

thole.
Second the recommendations of Heath or Cathays (Heath is nicer, Cathays is livelier both have students to deal with) if you're in UHW though. Not sure if I'd bother with the bay, heard a few dodgy things about some areas (around Lloyd George Avenue can be rough and have a fair few DSS people living there).

Beckhams concieve children in Brooklyn and Paris, so name there children after the places, where as in Wales a mate of mine was born in the splott market toilets, and his old man named him John 
As for Cardiff, well first of you need to put up some pictures of her to see if she is ok to live in Cardiff.
Cardiff is alright, quite expensive in the city center some ok areas around though, but Cardiff does have a better class of women so if you do visit, fapping position at the ready
But the bay area of Cardiff is lovely especially if you sail into the bay
