Odd door to door charity fundraising strategy
Discussion
Just had a woman at the door with a World Wildlife Fund bib on and an ID badge. I answered the door and the conversation went something like this:
Her: Hello, we're just knocking on doors in the area. It's nothing bad, or not as bad as this weather at least.
Me: <laughs> Yes, horrible isn't it?
Her: I'm from the WWF, I suppose you've heard of us?
Me: Yep.
Her: Do you watch many wildlife programmes on TV?
Me: Not really.
Her: Do you like animals?
Me: Yes, I guess so.
Her: OK, well if you ever see us in town with our collecting tins, would you mind putting a few pennies in?
Me:
Errr... OK.
Her: Thanks, bye then.
Me: Errr, see ya!
Am I missing something or is that a completely pointless approach to fund raising? I thought she might have been trying to sell raffle tickets, sell subscriptions to some kind of wildlife magazine, sign people up to regular direct debits, or just collect donations there and then, but she didn't seem to be carrying anything with her to do any of those things. Very odd.

I always thought you could not shake your tin in the street or call out as this then constitutes begging.
Dunno about England, but it's certainly not true up here.Your answer to do you watch wildlife programmes was, no! you answer to do you like animals was, I guess so! Its obvious you would no hand over £5 pound a month for somthing your not bothered about so whats the point in her wasting yours or her time! seams like a refreshing change wish they where like that where I used to live!
