Beautiful piece of kit. I was wondering a few weeks ago, bearing in mind the size of that plane, how long it will be before the busybodies decree that a licence of some sort is required to fly R/C aircraft. Do owners need to get third party insurance?

Yep, did you see that episode of clarksons extreme machines with the model builders?

he went to france and found a guy who built a fully working 1/3 replica of a ferrari le mans car(cant remember which one), and it showed him and jezza starting the engine and going up throught the gears!

I have third party insurance to fly all of mine, and aircraft over a certain size, weight and speed need proper approval to fly (I think that one does) - it's not a case of being able to build and take to the air, certainly. Fortunately the fastest I have is only capable of just over 100mph and that's plenty quick enough for me
