Not a rant, just a whinge at their lack of intelligence.

This morning egg sent me a letter stating that they were increasing the piss taking amount of interest they charge on my credit card. so i thought id do like the masses and get a new credit card and transfer the balance.

I noticed that (my bank) are doing a 0% transfer at the moment and as i had had one of their cards previously adding to the fact that i bank with them i thought this would be easiest. I did the online apply now thing. Computer said no.

I put this down to 70% of my wage being paid in € in another bank and them not seeing enough going in each month as they used to. So, stupidly i thought if i ring them and explain this then they would see the light and common sense.

Lady on the phone said im sorry sir, you only have xxx pounds going in each month which is not enough. I explained to her that it only has to cover my mortgage and bills and everything else goes else where fell on deaf and dumb ears.

I asked if i could speak to someone else to explain my situation. Her response was no, as "The department you need to speak to only deals in writing and they do not have a telephone number".

Am i mad or are they actually not interested in making money?

Interested in making money of course. But to them it looks like you don't earn as much, so they cant guarantee you can afford it.

Just go to Virgin or someone.

I can see that from the monkey opperator view, but im suprised that they did not even want me to prove my income or speak to someone who could approve it. It was a plain no.

Applying to virgin as we speak/type

You don't pay much into your account, but want to be treated as if you do?

That's not how it works.

It's got nothing to do with how much you earn, it's how much of your money the bank gets to play with. That's how you pay for your banking services.

Nooooo, not Virgin. A 22% rate was the final straw for me with them, got rid asap.

I see your point and your right.

But compared to when i lived in the uk they have a lot more money to play with. Before it came in and went within 2 days leaving only a small amount to live on.

Now it goes in and sits there.
