Autopsy vs Post Mortems

What are they and what is the difference and when do they apply? I Read an article today in the paper about a man who died from gun shot wounds and they are waiting for the results from the post mortem

What he said, they're exactly the same procedure, 'post mortem' is derived from Latin whereas 'autopsy' is derived from Greek.
