Chaps,

I'm trying to find a full list of Olympic Events. (Not Olympic Sports, or Olympic Disciplines, but Olympic Events).

I can't seem to find one on t'interweb, despite fairly thorough searching. Anyone able to help?

Thanks,

Oli.

You might want to define events then.

How about 'dwarf throwing' and 'shouting at foreigners'?

I think "BBC handringingly embarrassing olympic over-promotion left wing sh*te" is an event associated with every Olympics.

Can you use this Beijing 2008 Schedule of events? Not the most user friendly but does list every event. Anything on the IOC website?

'Final collapse of UK plc' could be an Olympic event.

What a stupid time to take on such an expensive project. It can't be for national prestige, we don't have any.

I would imagine there's an entire quango operating solely to explain away the catalogue of monumental and hugely expensive f*ck-ups that will characterise our Olympic event.

Oh well, at least the Londoners get to pay for it. Ha and indeed, ha.

Chaps,

Thanks for your (various!) inputs.

More specifically, I seem to remember listening to a bit of commentary from an event at the Beijing Olympics about a sport I had never heard of. I think it was a team event, with a name beginning with "M". The name was a single word, and it sounded like it was very hard to understand (the commentator was struggling to understand who was in the lead, let alone explain what was going on.)

It's possible that I imagined the whole thing but I don't *think* I did. I am therefore looking for a list of all Olympic events (as opposed to "Sports" or "Disciplines") to try and track down what this commentary was all about.

All help welcomed!

Oli,

Narrow it down a bit smile

http://www.olympic.org/uk/sports/index_uk.asp might help, but the site isnt very open to "all stuff with teams"

Chaps,

That's about it! Narrow it down a bit - I would if I could! The name could have been something like "Manhattan". I certainly recall it as being an American word.

Links given (thanks) are all to Olympic Sports, not Olympic Events (they redirect on Wikipedia.)

(Let's not lose sight of the fact that I may just have been imagining the whole thing. Not beyond the realms of possiblity.)

Madison? Part of the cycling and no one knows what's going on.
