Getting rid of a sofa
Discussion
What is the easiest way to get rid of a sofa? I don't want money for it. It won't fit in the car so I can't take it to the tip. The council won't take it for free as it doesn't have the health annd safety stickers anymore.
Its still in good condition so I thought it might be useful to someone.
Aren't there some web sites where you can advertise freebies and people pick them?

I know a few people who could be interested? (first time buyers in London, etc)
When does it have to go by?

I called the council as they collect bulk stuff left outside for free, within reason anyway.
However before they came, the sofa was outside the night before the appointment and it disappeared.
I saw it about three months later in a caravan on a site just north of Cambridge City where we had asked someone to 'help with our enquiries'.....recognised it by the dog chewed arm!...

king a women be easier and cheaper than a sofa?Tho, whatever turns you on dude...
Round my area of London, we have a clean up crew that take all household items (up to a certain size) and lob them in the back of the caged van.... just chuck it out and then its a goner if locals do not get it first... Thats what happend to my 28" Nokia Tv... heard the smash as it landed in the back of the van the following morning, despite the sticker across it that said 'I work, just no remote'

On the pavement with a 'For Sale: £75' sign should see it nicked in no time.
One of my more ambitious neighbours put a 'make us an offer' sign on their old three piece suite. Someone had written underneath 'a tin of paraffin and a box of matches?'
