Given the current climate for apologising for stuff our ancestors did, like slavery and toppin alan turing should we perhaps demand an apology from Norway and Denmark for the disgraceful acts of barbarity perpetrated by the Vikings?
While were at it....the bloody French for 1066 too.

The Egyptians should apologies to the Jews for making them build the pyramids. That said with the Jews track record I think that there "you owe us an apology list" could be fairly long.

The way I see it, is that any past 'crime' my ancestors committed should simply be forgotten about.

Past crimes others ancestors/nationals etc did are reprehensible and should be apologised for.

Note that the definition of 'crime' changes with time and cvilisation. Rape, pillage and burning witches were all part of normal life once smile

I'm sorry for our countrys misconduct in the war. smile

I was just speaking about Germans, Swiss, and Austrians only yesterday (mainly about languages and different German dialects in these countries, even though it's German and is the same written language. Hi German it's called) and how people of a certain age still feel ashamed of what happened in WWII. frown

She said people of around 45/50 upwards are very ashamed about it and didn't like to discuss it with other Europeans.

Meh, get over it

People of 45/50 may have had parents directly affected by the war - disabilities, traumatic stress etc, so I'd say it was fair that it was still a fairly sore point.

A few high ranking ones.

Scotland to apologise for Brown.
King Leopald to apologise to the millions of people he maimed and killed in Africa. I doubt the Belgians have.
