Giving away the winning lottery ticket...
Discussion
Not literally, but the relationship equivalent.
Finished with my g/f today and I really dont know why. I should be lucky to have her. I should be thankful that someone as kind and beautiful as her loves me of all people. If I look for 10yrs I wont find better. I love her to bits but for some reason I just dont feel like she's "the one". And it started to show in my behaviour. And not knowing what to do in my heart, I did what I thought was best. But I really feel like Ive just shredded the winning euromillions ticket.
Please tell me someone out there has done this too? Anyone?

Ive finally fallen into the "stick your relationship problems on PH, noone will take the piss - honest" trap. Gah.

Really not 'the ONE'
or you don't feel good enough for her (she thought you were, up til now?)

Just not the one I think. There was something missing which I cant quite put my finger on it.
Do I think there is someone out there better? No. She is quite literally one in a million and anyone who knows her says the same.
Do I think there is someone out there better suited to me? Possibly.

Someone may be utterly perfect, but compatibility with each other isn't a personality trait (if you see what I mean)
Good luck, it's never easy.

There's your answer - you're lacking in self confidence and thus felt "lucky" that you had her.You didn't love her. You loved that she loved you.

Nail and head! I had a 2 year relationship with someone who loved me a lot, she did anything for me, was always there, always wanted to see me, was hot, bought me nice presents, cooked for me (I'm at uni
), insured me on her car (Mini One
) and yet I still didn't treat her like she treated me or how she deserved to be treated. Did I love her? Yes. Did she love me? Yes, a lot. But somehow none of that mattered and we just didn't have the compatibility, we both accepted that and moved on, but we're still best mates!! Good luck

Alternatively, with some time apart you could end up seeing that she really is the one for you.
Indeed. Sometimes you need to lose something to realize how much it meant to you. It’s very easy to take someone for granted when you’re used to them being around. I was in a long-term relationship with someone who I took for granted and treated her accordingly. Eventually she finished it. I was devastated and once she wasn’t there any more I realized just how much she’d meant to me and did everything in my power to get her back. She wasn’t having it though so I’ve had to learn to live without her. I’d marry her tomorrow knowing what I know now but I didn’t realise I felt that way until it was too late. You should tell her how you feel rather than just finish it. It could be that there’s something that just needs a small adjustment.308mate said:

Yip, I broke up with my girlfriend about 6/7 years ago in a pretty much identical scenario - after about 2 week sI realised the grass wasn't greener, being a single lad about town didn't feel as good as I thought it would, and realised how stupid I'd been, asked to get back with her and she kindly took me back, we're now happliy married and I know I made the wrong decision that day I broke up with her.If you are in any doubt as to whether or not you've made the wrong decision, don't leave it too late to try and get her back.

Just because she's one in a million doesn't mean she's your one.

But of the 9 point 9 hundred thousand other loves,
Statistically some of them would be equally nice.

(Bit of NSFW language in the intro)
